Los osados tutoriales/

I want to claim ownership of dances that are not quite serious, sober, or pure—dances that are not quite. And to bring value to the mil leches of the bastard, which, thanks to its lack of hermeticism and its promiscuity, lets in other times and places, updating the identity of the traditional. It is in these fictional mechanisms of construction, between the traditional and the new, that a jonda bastarda can be fabricated—a Frankenstein capable of traveling from the tablao to the theater, from the club to the cave, from the guild to the enthusiasts, from professionalization to the party.

What is flamenco in a trap beat, in a Gregorian chant, in pop? Can Whitney slip into bulerías or Laurie Anderson into tangos? What makes a body, a gesture, a way of being flamenco? How avant-garde is flamenco, and how avant-garde will it be?

Starting with playlists that mix flamenco sound archives with those that are not, a coexistence of styles will be encouraged. And over this zambra collage, a vocabulary of movement will be built—one that, through contagion and familiarity, dares to invent a flamenco loaded with questions that call upon the mestizo.
